Late one Friday evening, I, Joe, got a call from a tournament director for a tournament that I had my 8uBaseball boys signed up for. It had been raining most of the day and the tournament director was calling to tell me that the tournament was being cancelled. I was determined to let my boys get some games in that weekend! I called Trent and told him to meet him at the 8u fields. It was Trent's FIRST day on the job as the City of Perkins Parks and Recreation director. He and I met at the fields at about 9:00pm that night and walked around them and decided that we could probably host the teams if I could get ahold of them all. Out of the 8 teams that were signed up in the tournament, 6 of them came to Perkins and we were able to host everyone and have a good little 8uBaseball tourney!
Over the rest of that season the idea was thrown out to me that I should try to put together a small T-ball tourney with 6 teams in it to try to raise some funding for the fields. I had way bigger plans though. The next tournament we hosted ended up having 28 teams in it on 5 different fields. It went as smooth as one could possibly go! Everybody left saying "let us know when your next one is!"... Over the summer we put some work into the fields, came up with some new ideas for the concessions stands, and put our heads together!!! We came up with having a tournament for Halloween!!!! So, we ordered some awesome rings, and posted the tourney EVERYWHERE!!! I spent LOTS of hours trying to get teams to sign up for Halloween Havoc. We ended up getting 58 TEAMS signed up for it, and it was set to be the biggest little league tournament Perkins had EVER hosted!!! Unfortunately, we are always at the liberty of mother nature, and it rained us out that weekend, but not before putting a dream in our heads!!!
While we had all of those teams signed up for Halloween Havoc we knew we were going to need some more help! We reached out to our buddy Mike who was always helping us do things at the tournaments anyway. He was EXCITED to join forces with us and took the idea and ran with it!
Once Halloween Havoc had gotten rained out we rescheduled and worked with as many teams as we possibly could and over the next 3-4 we were able to host at least 4 teams in each division that we had scheduled for that tournament. The idea just kept growing and growing between the three of us! It raised the question: "hey, guys I think we can do this like every other weekend in the spring. Y'all want in?". To which BOTH guys were stoked about! So I started working on flyers and getting rings picked out and dates and scheduling and advertising, and now here we are with a whole website for our tourneys and a full slate of them coming for this next spring! We haven't stopped dreaming big for these things and I believe it will continue to grow exponentially in the next few years!!!
We cannot wait for spring to get here so we can get these things going!!!! Our absolute favorite thing to hear is when an umpire yells "PLAY BALL"!
This photo was taken of us at an all nighter 10uSoftball tournament we hosted! It was 3:00am!
Trent is employed by the City of Perkins, and does not have an "official" title with R&R. However he is the Parks and Rec Director for the City of Perkins, and maintains the fields in Perkins where we host most of our tournaments. He works hand in hand with us to ensure the safety and well-being of spectators and players, as well as making our facilities look the best they can possibly look. His knowledge of the game and how tournaments should be run makes him a HUGE asset to have on-site!
Trent and his amazing wife, Amanda. She helps us do more than anyone ever notices!

Coach Joe has 30+ years of experience with competitive baseball. He Coaches his son Ryler on his 8u baseball team and has been coaching for about 5 years and has SEVERAL championship teams that he's coached. His coaching philosophy is pretty simple: He wants ALL kids to fall in love with the game as much as he has! He uses his life experiences and sports experiences to try to teach good moral values to his boys on and off the field. His main goal for R&R is for it to grow into something amazing for all the kids across the world to be able to compete at a high level in a more affordable setting! Getting quality time with his kids at the ball fields is one of his favorite things to do. R&R was created in hopes of bringing families closer together and Coach Joe does just that! You'll find his Mom, his Stepdad, his Brother, his Sister-in-law, his Daughter and his Son (Raylee and Ryler..... R&R), as well as some of his extended family all around the fields at any tournament he runs! Look for Coach Joe at all of our events this spring!!!
